If there’s one thing all of us crochet and knitting addicts know, it’s that a crochet or knitting addiction usually also means a serious yarn addiction!! We can never seem to get enough. It’s just a beautiful sight! Colors and textures just calling out ideas for that next new project! But there’s just never enough time to keep up with the ideas, so that leaves us with a yarn storage dilemma! Continue reading 8 Creative Yarn Storage Ideas
This crochet boot cuff pattern uses a variation of the harlequin stitch to form a row of eye-catching diamonds around the main band of the cuff. Once the band is complete, a simple half-double crochet in the round makes a quick finish of the lower part of the cuff. This pattern can be done with 2 colors to create some fun contrast, or in one color for just some subtle texture. Continue reading Crochet Diamond Boot Cuff Pattern

I’ve been eyeing the Red Heart Scrubby yarn for a while now. Such a cool yarn invention! I’ve seen some creative and cute crochet kitchen scrubby patterns made with it. I’ve also been eyeing a million and one patterns for dish cloths using 100% cotton yarn. The problem is, I really like my little kitchen sponges. Continue reading Crochet Kitchen Scrubby Pattern
Summer tends to be a time when crocheters do a little less crocheting than they would during the rest of the year. We put aside our hooks and yarn in favor of outdoor adventures and cooler hobbies. No one is dreaming of cozy winter hats and scarves when it’s hot out and the last thing you want to work on by the pool is a heavy, warm blanket! However, some of us are just so in love with the hobby that we can’t stop even if the warmer aspect of the craft is not appealing. Some of us just have to pull out those hooks and do SOMETHING! This infinity scarf pattern has such an elegant and tidy feel! It uses a delicate petal or shell-like stitch for most of the body, and then is finished off with a straight, simple border. I think it gives it a very polished effect. Continue reading The Kimberly Scarf // Crochet Infinity Scarf Pattern
Two years ago, in 2015, I decided to try my hand at selling handmade crocheted items. I didn’t have a lot of free time as a mom of 3 with a part time job, but it seemed like something I could fit into some of those “extra” moments. Like sitting on a bench watching my three boys at the park or watching t.v. with the hubby at night. And maybe, just maybe, I could make a little money at it. I came up with a name, applied for a business license, set up a website, and signed up for a few local craft shows. I loved it! It was so much fun! After figuring in all my expenses at the end of the year, I did make a profit… but it wasn’t much! I was a little bummed, but I thoroughly enjoyed the satisfaction that came from conquering completely new challenges… and at least I covered the cost of all those yarn shopping trips that were probably more than I really needed (who knew buying yarn could be so addicting?)!
In 2016 I set out to improve my business and my profit. Continue reading Not Everyone Succeeds Quickly: My Small Business Reflections on 2016
I had so much fun putting together this garland round up for fall, that I had to do one for Christmas too! These sweet crochet garland patterns would make a fabulous addition to any fireplace mantel, wall, or even on the Christmas tree itself. Continue reading 8 Crochet Garland Patterns for Christmas
I love the texture contrast in this cup cozy pattern, jumping from straight, knit-like lines, to the “pebbled” look of the alternating single and double crochet stitches. It feels like the middle texture is “peeking” out from between the lines, thus the “peek-a-boo” title. Continue reading Peek-A-Boo Cup Cozy
