Crochet a Solid Granny Square with no Gaps
This solid granny square pattern is for when you want a granny square, but you don’t want all the holes! The result is a beautiful little square that can be made in multiples to create a quilted project, a geometric project or a checkered project. Or, you can just keep expanding your rows into one big square!
Maybe you love the look of a granny square, with the rows that start small in the center and gradually grow outward, but you also want a more solid material. Maybe you love the mindless process of expanding your work, row by row in growing succession, but you don’t want the gaps of the traditional granny design. Then this solid granny square pattern might be just what you’re looking for!
HOW TO USE YOUR SQUARES
There are so many different kind of projects you can use a crocheted square for! Here are just a few ideas:
- Make a bunch of squares and sew them together in a quilt style
- Make a smaller number and sew them together to form a purse (there are lots of purse styles out there)
- Make half your squares in one color and half in another color to make something in a checkered pattern
- Make one square and keep expanding it until it is one large square blanket
